Former Rams Finalists For Pro-Football Hall Of Fame

(KTVI)-Fifteen modern-era finalists have been announced for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including three former Rams. ?Aeneas Williams, Jerome Bettis, and Kevin Green made the cut along with players Michael Strahan, Larry Allen, Tim Brown, Chris Carter, Curley Culp, Charles Haley, Jonathan Ogden, Andre Reed, Dave Robinson, Warren Sapp, Will Shields, coach Bill Parcells, and owners Edward J. Debartolo, Jr. and Art Modell

It is the first year of eligibility for Allen, Ogden, Sapp, and Strahan. To be eligible, players and coaches must be retired at least five consecutive seasons.

The the Hall?s Selection Committee meets in New Orleans on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013.

Aeneas Williams played at Southern University before being drafted by the Phoenix Cardinals in the 3rd round of the 1991 NFL Draft. He played for the St. Louis Rams from 2001 until 2004. He played cornerback for first 12 years of career before moving to safety, earning Pro Bowl nods at both positions.

Jerome Bettis played college football at Notre Dame before being drafted 10th overall by the Los Angeles Rams in the 1993 NFL draft. ?He was with the team when it moved to St. Louis for the 1995 season before moving on to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was the first Rams rookie to rush for 1,000 yards since Eric Dickerson.

Kevin Green is also among the nominees. ?He was a native of New York, but Greene attended Granite City High School where he was a two-year starter on the football team. ?A walk-on at Auburn, Greene played two seasons (1983-84) for the Tigers and led the Southeastern Conference in sacks as a senior with 11. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fifth round in 1985. He played his first eight seasons with the Rams.
